Converting from a paper-based protocol to GlucoStabilizer for intensive insulin therapy resulted in superior control of hyperglycemia and marked decrements in the incidence of hypoglycemia and glycemic variability.  This is the first time that an intensive insulin strategy has been shown to control all 3 glycemic derangements in critically ill patients.
